Berlin, Germany – The IP500® Alliance is excited to announce that Microchip Technology Inc. has joined the IP500® Alliance.
The IP500 Alliance has developed a highly reliable protocol for security and safety applications using only wireless connectivity. The alliance has selected Microchip’s RF and Micro products as their core RF components, due to their dual band capabilities, highest reliability and performance at the RF and processing level.
Helmut Adamski, Chairman of the IP500® Alliance, states “Microchip is an incredible additional value to the IP500 Alliance, strengthening its evolution of the IoT wireless standard for commercial and industrial applications.”
This new partnership carries considerable benefits also at the IoT system level. In partnership with the smart building construction industry, new innovative applications are going to be created due to the “total system approach”, including IP500® Infrastructure and cloud-based solution providers.
“We see that the IP500 standard has reached a strong position in the IoT space for commercial and industrial applications and has the potential to become the de-facto IoT wireless standard focusing on safety and security applications,” said, Steve Caldwell, vice president of Microchip’s wireless solutions business unit.
Microchip is a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, providing low-risk product development, lower total system cost and faster time to market for thousands of diverse customer applications worldwide. Its easy-to-use development tools and comprehensive product portfolio enable customers to create optimal designs, which reduce risk while lowering total system cost and time to market. The IP500® Alliance is an open and international industry initiative of leading manufacturers, users and operators. The aim of the Alliance is to jointly define, develop and provide a wireless, manufacturer-neutral and secure communication IoT platform for all applications for smart industrial and commercial buildings. The IP500 platform guarantees maximum interoperability and security for the interdisciplinary and interdepartmental interplay of different building automation products (sensors & actors) by using central, generally introduced and accepted industrial IEEE standards and local frequency regulations. The IP500® standard is also the first and only IoT wireless platform which is certified by VdS according to EN regulation. A globalization of the IP500 standard has its representatives in Europe, North and South America, India and Asia (Japan).
