IP500 Alliance Successfully Completes Pilot Installation with Siganet
Pilot project demonstrates how IP500 wireless technology enables energy-efficient retrofit and intelligent building comfort
The IP500 Alliance is pleased to announce the successful completion of a pilot installation in collaboration with its partner Siganet.
As part of this proof of concept, Siganet’s office environment was transformed into a fully connected network powered by IP500 wireless technology. Across three fully networked rooms, solutions from ecosystem partners including Kingspan, BesTec and Microsens were seamlessly integrated through the IP500 wireless standard.
The pilot demonstrates how IP500 wireless technology enables fast, efficient and sustainable retrofit of existing buildings without extensive rewiring, structural intervention or operational disruption.
Enabling Energy Efficiency Through Intelligent Retrofit
The pilot installation showcases a range of integrated smart building applications enabled by IP500 wireless technology all in one network, focused on energy efficiency, comfort and intelligent building operation:
– Automated natural ventilation and indoor climate control
including CO₂-based air quality monitoring, comfort regulation, storm protection via automatic window closure, and optimized indoor climate management
– Smart control of window actuators and blinds
enabling daylight-based temperature regulation and adaptive shading strategies
– Night-time cooling and passive thermal management
using automated ventilation strategies for energy-efficient building cooling
– Networked environmental sensing
including presence detection, air quality monitoring and comfort-based control logic
– Intelligent lighting system control
combining natural daylight utilization with smart artificial lighting, timing strategies for workdays and weekends/holidays, and presence-based activation for reduced energy consumption
– Integrated security and building safety functions
including motion detection, access monitoring, window contacts, alarm integration, automated lighting responses, and alert notifications via SMS/email
– Automated room optimization for occupant comfort
dynamically adjusting building systems based on occupancy, environmental conditions and comfort parameters
By intelligently connecting these applications through IP500 wireless technology, the system enables buildings to actively reduce energy consumption while improving indoor climate and user experience.
Sustainable Modernization for Existing Buildings
With increasing pressure to improve energy performance and reduce carbon emissions, retrofit solutions are becoming a critical pathway toward more sustainable buildings.
The Siganet pilot highlights how IP500 wireless technology provides a practical retrofit approach by eliminating the need for complex cabling infrastructure, reducing installation effort and minimizing material consumption.
This makes modernization faster, more cost-efficient and significantly more sustainable.
A Scalable Foundation for Future Smart Buildings
The pilot also demonstrates the scalability of the IP500 wireless ecosystem.
Additional devices, applications and building functions can be integrated seamlessly over time, allowing building operators to start with targeted energy-efficiency measures and expand toward fully connected smart building environments.
The IP500 Alliance and Siganet will share further insights and application examples from the project in the coming weeks.
